Adelaide North West Homelessness Alliance (ANWHA) offers a range of services for people experiencing, or at risk of homelessness.
ANWHA provide services through a collaborative partnership between seven for-purpose community organisations and the South Australian Housing Authority. Together they aim to provide access to safe and supported accommodation options that lead people towards independence and belonging.

ac.care provides specialist homelessness support to people experiencing or at risk of homelessness in regional South Australia.
ac.care offers tailored support for individuals, families, and young people, helping them find or maintain safe housing. Their services include crisis assistance, outreach, and case management, working collaboratively with clients to improve stability and independence.

Catherine House provides crisis and longer-term accommodation and support for women experiencing homelessness in South Australia.
Catherine House is a specialist homelessness service for women over 18 who are unaccompanied by children. It offers safe accommodation, intensive case management, and wraparound support to help women address the causes of homelessness and work towards long-term housing and independence.

Centacare Catholic Country SA provides homelessness support to help people access housing and maintain stability across regional South Australia.
Centacare Catholic Country SA supports individuals and families experiencing or at risk of homelessness through practical assistance, case management, and referrals. Their services focus on securing safe housing, improving wellbeing, and supporting people to live independently across regional communities.

- Assistance accessing private rental and social housing
- Referrals to emergency accommodation
- Case management and ongoing support
- Advocacy and housing support
- Support for individuals, couples, families, and young people
Centacare Whyalla Homelessness Service supports people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness by helping them access housing, support services, and long-term stability.
The Whyalla Homelessness Service provides crisis response, case management, and housing support for individuals, couples, and families. They work with people to secure safe accommodation, address underlying issues contributing to homelessness, and connect them with additional community services to improve wellbeing and independence.

- Access to crisis, transitional, and supportive housing
- Case management and ongoing support

- Advocacy and practical assistance

- Early intervention tenancy support
Code RED & Code BLUE is a response to extreme weather aiming to reduce the harmful effects on people rough sleeping by:
- connecting them with support services
- providing additional services including extended operating hours for services, increased shelter options, additional food services, sunscreen etc.
Housing SA activates Code Red and Code Blue, coordinating the response across South Australia in partnership with other services.
When a Code Red or Code Blue response is activated, homelessness services will visit known rough sleeper locations to make people aware of the supports available to them.
Triggers for Code Red
- An extreme heat watch is issued if there are three or more days in a row with an average daily temperature over 29°C eg - 36°C daytime and 22°C overnight. An extreme heat watch activates standby status in preparation for a Code Red activation
- An extreme heat warning is issued where there are three or more days days in a row with an average daily temperature over 32°C eg - 40°C daytime and 24°C overnight. An extreme heat warning triggers a Code Red activation
- Any other factors related to extreme heat which require a Code Red response.
Triggers for Code Blue
- Conditions predicted to continue for at least three days by the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) with any two of the following:
- temperatures dropping below an average night-time low of 6°C
- significant rainfall causing difficulty for unsheltered individuals to remain dry
- damaging wind gusts pose a high risk for the safety of unsheltered individuals.
- Conditions predicted by BOM to continue for at least five days, when temperatures drop below an average night-time low of 5°C
- Any other factors related to extreme winter weather which require a Code Blue response.
Foyer Port Adelaide is South Australia's first and only youth Foyer accommodation service.
Foyer Port Adelaide is a partnership between the Department of Human Services and St John’s Youth Services. Comprised of 23 independent apartments, the Foyer is an inspiring living and working environment that encourages independence, community belonging and wellbeing. Their work with young people is focused on developing young people’s potential and recognises that working towards aspirations and dreams is just as important as meeting their immediate needs.
Based on the ‘Foyer Deal’, young people and the Foyer team engage in a mutual contractual relationship. The young person agrees to engage with what the Foyer has to offer, and the Foyer team commits to tailoring this offer so each young person is provided with the support and resources they need to succeed.
Applying to Foyer Port Adelaide
Young people can apply themselves for an apartment at Foyer Port Adelaide, or be referred by a support worker, such as a school counsellor.
Foyer may be the right choice for you if you:
- are aged between 16-21 and are experiencing homelessness or are at risk of homelessness,
- are engaged in education, employment and/or training or actively working towards this,
- have a regular income (this can include a Centrelink independent allowance),
- have the capacity to live independently,
- can commit to participating in programs offered,
- are willing to sign an agreement (the ‘Deal’) demonstrating your commitment to participating in the Foyer community.

Homeless Connect SA is a free, 24/7 phone-based service that connects people experiencing or at risk of homelessness to support, advice, and referrals to local housing and crisis services.
Homeless Connect SA acts as a central entry point for homelessness support across South Australia. Rather than providing housing directly, the service assesses a person’s situation and links them with appropriate specialist services such as emergency accommodation, domestic violence support, mental health services, and youth or family homelessness programs.
Services provided:
- 24/7 phone-based homelessness support
- Assessment of individual housing situations
- Referrals to emergency accommodation services
- Connection to specialist homelessness services
- Links to domestic violence, youth, and mental health supports
- Information about local support options and next steps
Hutt St Centre is a homelessness support hub in Adelaide that provides meals, showers, healthcare, and pathways into housing and long-term stability.
Hutt St Centre is a day service in Adelaide that supports people experiencing or at risk of homelessness by meeting immediate needs like food, hygiene, and safety, while also connecting them to housing, health care, and long-term support services. The service works with people to help them move towards stable housing and improved wellbeing.
