Vinnies Men's Crisis Centre

The Vinnies Men's Crisis Centre offers short-term emergency accommodation for men experiencing homelessness. They assist our guests with referrals to case management services and other agencies in order to secure long-term housing, while addressing other factors that are contributing to homelessness.

The centre focuses on supporting men to break the cycle of homelessness and reduce the need for repeat crisis accommodation. A dedicated team of support workers and case workers provide guests with information and support dedicated to securing long-term accommodation.

The Vinnies Men's Crisis Centre has partnerships with many service providers and agencies to help the process of linking people with the right service at the right time.

They provide nutritional, tasty evening meals and light breakfast, showers and toiletries in a safe, supported and welcoming environment.

Guests can present at the centre or can be referred through government or other agency channels.

Women's Service

Vinnies Women's Crisis Centre

Vinnies Women's Crisis Centre combines accommodation and wraparound services to ensure women have support, safety and peace of mind for sound decision-making within a calm, child-friendly environment.

The Centre provides guests with all meals and serviced rooms, together with kitchen, laundry and computer facilities to use, as well as a children's play room and manicured gardens. Assistance with transport, childminding and other practical services are provided when possible, together with in-house access to St Vincent de Paul Society services, including clothing and other assistance.

Guests must be referred by government and agency channels.

Youth Service

West Coast Youth and Community Support (WCYCS)

West Coast Youth and Community Support (WCYCS) provide crucial homelessness services to people on the Lower Eyre Peninsula

Their support includes providing or coordinating living skills, transport, mental health, medical, legal support, housing, furniture, budgeting support, education and drug and alcohol support.

Key aspects of this service includes:

- Providing quality support to people in the community facing barriers to the most basic of human rights of shelter.

- Undertaking a collaborative approach to investigating the housing and emergency accommodation options for single people in the Lower Eyre region.

- Providing early intervention and outreach services aimed at engaging those most in need of support.

- Maintaining community awareness regarding issues faced by people who become homeless or are at risk of homelessness.

Youthaven

Youthaven is a Youth Crisis Accommodation facility for young people 15-17 years of age. They provide emergency accommodation and an emphasis on life skills, learning to be independent and family reunification if possible.

Code Red and Code Blue

Code Red and Code Blue responses to extreme weather, aim to reduce the harmful effects on people rough sleeping by:

- connecting them with support services

- providing additional services including extended operating hours for services, increased shelter options, additional food services, sunscreen etc.

When a Code Red or Code Blue response is activated, the WCYCS team will visit known rough sleeper locations to make people aware of the supports available to them.
