Aged Rights Advocacy Service

ARAS has been supporting older people in South Australia to uphold their aged care and human rights since 1990.

ARAS offers a free, confidential, and state-wide service to older people (or their representatives) who are:

· living in residential aged care or retirement villages

· receiving or seeking to receive Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) or Home Care Package (HCP) services

· at risk of, or experiencing abuse from family or friends

In addition, ARAS delivers the Home Care Check-In project where it provides in home safety checks for older persons deemed to be vulnerable due to social isolation, and at risk of harm or neglect.

ARAS also has specialist Aboriginal Advocates who provide culturally safe support and host an annual Intergenerational Elders and Youth Gathering in regional South Australia.

ARAS is funded by the Australian Government.

Beyond Blue’s NewAccess for Small Business Owners is a guided self-help mental health coaching program.

It’s free, confidential and convenient. Available nationally by phone or video call, no GP referral is required.

Over 6 sessions, your mental health coach will work with you to manage stress and overwhelm using straightforward problem-solving approaches.

All mental health coaches are specially trained and have a small business background so they understand your unique challenges.

Butterfly Foundation

For anyone in Australia concerned about eating disorders or body image issues, whether you need support for yourself or someone you care about. All counsellors are qualified mental health professionals with a background in psychology, social work or counselling. They also have specialist training in eating disorders and body image.

Crisis Care Helpline - 131 611

Crisis Care Helpline provides a response in regards to child abuse and neglect matters, along with crisis situations relating to children who are under the care of the Guardianship of the Minister.

Family by Family is a community-driven support program designed to help South Australian families overcome challenges and achieve positive change. By connecting families in need (Seeking Families) with families who have overcome similar challenges (Sharing Families), the program fosters mutual learning, guidance, and support. Through this family-to-family mentoring approach, Family By Family empowers participants to build resilience, develop essential skills, and create lasting connections within their communities.

FriendLine

FriendLine is a phone based support line available to anyone over the age of 18, in need of a friendly chat. There is also an online chat service available if you are unable to make a call.

All conversations are with trained volunteers and calls are anonymous and confidential.

Get Healthy Service

The Get Healthy Service is a free information and coaching service to support people to make lifestyle changes regarding healthy eating, physical activity and how to reach and maintain a healthy weight. The service provides confidential telephone counselling with a personal qualified coach and a website with helpful advice and tips.

The service is available to South Australian adults whose health is at risk due to one or more of the following:

- Not eating a healthy diet

- Insufficient physical activity

- Being overweight
