Provides a supportive space for Veterans' and their families.

If you’re a current or former Australian Defence Force (ADF) member, including reservists, or a family member, carer, or someone supporting a veteran, you’re welcome at the Hub.

ADF Veterans Program

Port Adelaide's ADF Veterans Program assists with the transition for ex-service men and women back to civilian life.

Drawing on the similarities of transitioning from high-performing environments, ex AFL-players and ADF veterans come together to re-identify a sense of purpose and community connection.

Supports include:

- Six week program.

- Challenges associated with transition, mental health, wellbeing and relationships.

- In addition to the six weeks, a number of events are delivered across the year with current and past program participants to promote ongoing connection and belonging.

Bravery Trust

Bravery Trust provides current and ex-serving members of the Australian Defence Force with financial assistance, financial counselling and financial education.

Provides an immediate safety net for veterans in hardship, then builds confidence and capability to empower and connect veterans and their families with other support services.

Supports include:

- Immediate financial safety net to veterans injured during service and their families.

- Works longer term with veterans and their families to build confidence and skills for a financially sustainable future.

- Veteran-specific Financial Counselling Service.

- Financial Fitness program assisting to avoid or reduce financial hardship.

Defence Member and Family Helpline

The Defence Member and Family Helpline is the first point of call for Defence families seeking support, information or connection with their community.

The Helpline can provide assessment, assistance, advice or referral depending on the family's needs.

Services include:

- 24/7 helpline.

- Qualified professionals including social workers and psychologists.

- Help during a crisis.

- Support during deployment, posting or relocation.

- Referral to a Local Area Office.

- Connection with community groups and local area resources.

- Referral to a Education Liaison Officer.

- Support for partner employment.

- Assistance with children's childcare or education.

- Assistance for families with special needs.

- Access to transition coaching.

- Counselling for personal, relationship and family problems.

Defence Service Homes Insurance Scheme

Defence Service Homes Insurance Scheme (DSH Insurance) provides home building insurance to all current and former members of the ADF with at least one day of service.

If you have served in the ADF or you are the widow/widower of someone who has, you are eligible to access home building insurance underwritten by DSH Insurance.

Services include:

- Flood, fusion and accidental damage cover as standard.

- No excess other than for earthquakes and some accidental damage claims.

- Flexible payment options.

- Economical premiums.

Legacy

The Legacy Club of South Australia and Broken Hill is dedicated to caring for the families of deceased and seriously injured veterans.

The Legacy Vision is that no dependant of a veteran suffers financial or social disadvantage as a result of their loved ones’ death or injury from service is upheld.

Services include:

- Advocates to ensure beneficiaries receive government benefits or pensions they are entitled to.

- Social connection services.

- Assistance with children’s education and development.

Open Arms Veterans & Families Counselling

Open Arms Veterans & Family Counselling provides mental health and wellbeing support for Australian veterans and their families.

They specialise in providing free and confidential face-to-face, telephone and online counselling, group programs and peer support.

Services include:

- Counselling.

- Mental health training programs.

- Group treatment programs and workshops.

- Suicide prevention and resilience training.

Stepping Out Workshop

Stepping Out free 2 day workshop is designed specifically for ADF personnel transitioning to civilian life.

Stepping Out workshops are designed to help transitioning members plan their successful transition alongside other transitioning members and their families.

Supports include:

- Finding a new job outside defence.

- Adapting to civilian employment.

- Integrating into a new community.

- Navigating a different medical system.

- Finding appropriate housing.

- Enrolling kids in a new school.

- Establishing a different family dynamic.

- Creating a new social network.
