PEAS in a Pod

PEAS in a Pod is a free community-based parenting group that explores all aspects of parenthood. Meet other new parents of children under 12 months in a safe, stimulating and supportive setting.

Build relationships and enhance children’s social, emotional, and language development while fostering strong parent-child attachment. The group focuses on your parenting experience while promoting mental health and emotional well-being.

Supports include:

- Trauma-Informed approach - provides a safe, positive and stimulating environment to help caregivers develop reflective capacity and contextualise their caregiving experiences.

- Mental and emotional wellbeing - offers guidance on managing mental and emotional wellbeing as new parents.

- Knowledge and skills - enhances families' knowledge, skills and connectivity by providing access to and referrals for a diverse range of support services.

- Social networks - facilitates and increases social networks by connecting caregivers and their children, fostering positive interactions, support and friendships.

- Early identification - identifies babies, young children and caregivers at risk and provides support. Offers opportunities to identify developmental problems and make referrals to appropriate early intervention services.

- One-on-one sessions - provides the option for individualized sessions if required.

Separated Parents

A free five-session course, with each session lasting two hours, is designed for parents and carers of children aged 2-14 within metropolitan Adelaide, particularly those who have experienced family separation or divorce.

Services include:

- Mindfulness and reflection.

- Improve communication with their children.

- Respectful interactions and encouraging the development of a positive self-identity in children.

- Create a new relationship context for parents and children by facilitating opportunities for positive exchanges.

Family Law Counselling

Family Law Counselling supports individuals and families in managing the issues that arise during separation, particularly those related to children's wellbeing.

Helping couples and families manage issues arising from relationship changes, separation and divorce. They provide counselling, therapeutic intervention, support, information, and referrals to promote the wellbeing of all parties involved.

Supports include:

- Support to families experiencing relationship breakdown, focusing on children’s needs.

- Strategies for coping with change in relationships, family, lifestyle, ageing, disability and illness.

- Guidance to manage parental conflict, and dealing with co-parenting issues.

- Support to children in coping with separation.

- Tactics for effective communication.

- Strategies for managing the impact of family violence.

- Expertise in working with Family Intervention Order and Court Orders.

Family Relationship Counselling

Family Relationship Counselling provides confidential counselling support to individuals, couples, families and children.

Strengthening family relationships, prevent breakdown, and ensuring the wellbeing and safety of children through the provision of broad-based counselling and education to families.

- Coping with change – in relationships, family, lifestyle, ageing, disability and illness.

- Relationship difficulties.

- Parenting, step-parenting and parenting post-separation.
